RAMPO NOIR

Rampo Noir (a.k.a. Rampo Jigoku) is a 2005 Japanese fantasy|horror film directed by Akio Jissoji, Atsushi Kaneko, Hisayasu Sato, and Suguru Takeuchi. The film stars Tadanobu Asano, Yûko Daike and Chisako Hara. The film is compilation of four short stories by four Japanese directors. Each of the segments is an adaptation of stories written in the early twentieth century by Taro Hirai -better known as Rampo Edogawa.

Mars Canal (directed by Suguru Takeuchi).
Within absolute silence, a naked man wanders through a dark and depressing landscape recalling the excruciating details of his last encounter with his former lover. He finally collapses at the edge of a lake that descends, seemingly into the bowels of hell itself.
Mirror Hell (directed by Akio Jissoji).
A series of women are discovered with their faces burnt and skulls charred for no apparent reason, a young detective decide to take over the case and discovers that a unique hand mirror is always found in the scene.
Caterpillar (directed by Hisayasu Sato).
A war hero returns home with no limbs and only his eyesight remaining. His beautiful wife, tired of taking care of him, turns to torturing her crippled husband for amusement.
Crawling Bugs (directed by Atsushi Kaneko).
A sexy actress is returning home from a successful night on stage, until her chauffeur becomes obsessed with her and decides that she should come home with him.
