A BLOOD PLEDGE


Yeogo Goedam V (a.k.a. A Blood Pledge) is a 2009 South Korean horror film directed by Lee Jong-yong, and starring Oh Yeon-seo, Son Eun-seo, Jang Kyeong-ah, Song Min-jeong, and Yoo Shin-ae. The film is the fifth installment in the South Korean horror film series Yeogo Goedam that started in 1998 with Whispering Corridors.

Soon after Eon-joo's suicide, a lot of strange rumors start to spread around a Catholic all-girl high school. As Eon-joo’s younger sister, Jeong-eon, starts to investigate, she discovers that her sister was one of four girls who made a blood pact to kill themselves by jumping off the roof of the school. However, the other girls are still alive and it seems that all of them share a lot of weird secrets and it will be up to Jeong-eon to clarify the circumstances under which her sister decided to take her own life.

ZIBAHKHANA


Zibahkhana (a.k.a. Hell's Ground) is a 2007 Pakistani horror film directed by Omar Khan, and starring Ashfaq Bhatti, Rubya Chaudhry, Osman Khalid Butt, and Sultan Billa.

After lying to their parents about going on a field trip, five college students leave their suburb neighborhood on Islamabad and decide to go into the wild. The idea is to go to a concert but they decide to take a weird shortcut. After a while, their van breaks down and they end up in a creepy forest known as The Hell's Ground. There, they become the target of a crazy burqa-wearing killer.

FOUR ROADS TO HELL


Four Roads To Hell (a.k.a. Tales of Terror From Japan: Four Roads to Hell) is a 2007 Japanese horror film. It consists of a series of 5 minute long short stories, each of them directed by a different director. The film is part of the series Tales Of Terror From Japan.

Another One: directed by Keisuke Toyoshima. A solitary man checks into a hotel, only to discover that he is not alone in the room.

The Men in Black: directed by Keisuke Toyoshima. Two young kids decide to go out and take pictures of what seems to be UFOs; as one of them goes missing, the other one, who took the film from the camera, begins to be harassed by strange-looking all dressed in black men.

Purification Doesn’t Work (or The Bloodied Armor): directed by Hirohisa Sasaki. While working at a prop storehouse, a young girl comes across an old helmet. It appears that it once was worn by an actor who died while wearing it.

Overtime, part 1 & 2: directed by Shunichi Hirano. At a Tokyo office, there is an urban legend among employees, whoever gets to work overtime on a certain day of the month faces a terrible destiny.

Second Round: directed by Wataru Furuta. While working at night, a cab driver finds out that there's something weird going on around the city. First, he is stop by an old lady, his second customer is a young woman and his third customer is middle-aged crazy-looking guy.

A Woman Next Door: directed by Kenji Murakami. A young man is developing a strange obsession about his neighbor who seems to have a weird secret.

Mai’s Voice: directed by Hirono Yamada. After the death of their young daughter, a man and his wife start listening to her voice in strange circumstances.

The Promise: directed by Keisuke Toyoshima. During an afternoon with his grandmother, a young man decides to ask her to return after her death so that he could meet a real ghost. Years later his grandma will fulfill her promise.

He’s Home: directed by Kenji Murakami. Even though it has passed a year since he first moved in with his girlfriend, a man still doesn’t dare to sleep in the same bedroom with her as she is keeping a picture of her deceased husband in the room.

Breath of Mononoke: A woman has to go across a parking lot at night only to witness the mystery behind the place.

DARK TALES OF JAPAN


Dark Tales Of Japan is a 2004 Japanese horror film. It comprises 5 different unconnected short stories directed by five notable Japanese directors.

The Spiderwoman: directed by Yoshihiro Nakamura; starring Shôzô Endô, Yoshinori Okada, Miyako Yamaguchi, Yoko Maki, Anri Sugihara, and Kanako Fukaura.
In this first short film, a journalist is tracking down a legend of a woman who after an encounter with a spider has become a horrible creature with a growing hunger for human flesh. Without knowing it, the young man will be closer than anybody else to the horrific creature.

Crevices: directed by Norio Tsuruta; starring Shunsuke Nakamura, Shigenori Yamazaki, and Kyusaku Shimada.
While visiting the apartment of a friend that's gone missing, a young man finds that every crack and crevice inside the apartment has been sealed with red tape. After checking in the computer and a video camera, it seems that his friend suffered some kind of nervous breakdown and was completely obsessed with the idea that someone was watching him. It will be up to the young man to find out the truth about his friend's disappearance and the dark secret of the apartment.

The Sacrifice: directed by Kôji Shiraishi; starring Yû Yamada, Moro Morooka, and Megumi Asaoka.
The third story is about a young woman who after receiving a message has to return to her rural home town outside Tokyo; it seems that her mother has fallen sick and wants to see her. Once there, she finds out that her troubles with a stalker might have followed her to her family home. Haunted by a scary childhood memory and the growing fear of the obsessed co-worker who is stalking her, she wakes in the middle of the night only to discover a terrifying truth about her family.

Blonde Kwaidan: directed by Takashi Shimizu; starring Tetta Sugimoto.
A Japanese businessman has to visit Hollywood, California as part of his job. It seems that he has an obsession with natural blond white women. Unfortunately for him, the house he has to stay at is haunted by a blond woman.

Presentiment: directed by Masayuki Ochiai; starring Teruyuki Kagawa and Hijiri Kojima.
The fifth and last tale is about a Japanese businessman who after stealing sensitive data from his employer, boards the elevator to make his escape. When the elevator stops, three unusual passengers are already inside it. The three persons mysteriously display a deep knowledge about himself and what he has juts done. When the elevator suddenly breaks down, a real nightmare begins. The time passes and things become really creepy inside the elevator with his strange company.

TALES OF TERROR: THE HAUNTED APARTMENTS


Tales of Terror: The Haunted Apartments is a 2005 Japanese horror film directed by Akio Yoshida, and starring Mei Kurokawa, Mitsuru Fukikoshi, and Ayaka Maeda.

Right after her mom's death, Aimi and her father decide to move to a new home. Soon, they find an old apartment building that seems just right for the both of them. But it doesn't take too long until they learn that things are quite abnormal around here. The caretaker tells Aimi about an existent curfew. According to the man, all residents must cross the rope at the entrance in front of the property by midnight, not a second later. Also, nobody can move out until a new tenant has arrived. It seems that everybody who has been brave enough to break the rules have been violently killed. Since the very first day at the apartment, Aimi begins to have visions of a young girl; but when she asks around, her neighbors tell her that there is no other girl living in the building. After further investigations, she learns that the girl is Ai, the daughter of the first owner of the building who lived here 30 years ago; Aimi also learns that Ai vanished one day on her way home from school without a trace. However, as Aimi's curiosity becomes stronger, she is driven to find out more about Ai, and finally discovers that Ai wasn't abducted, but in fact came back to the building the day she apparently disappeared. It appears to Aimi that she can find out the truth about Ai's disappearance, and the disturbing secret that the two girls seemingly share. It will be up to her to stop the haunting and, thus free the rest of the tenants.

P


P (a.k.a. The Possessed) is a 2005 Thai horror film directed by Paul Spurrier, and starring Suangporn Jaturaphut, Opal, Pisamai Pakdeevijit, and Manthana Wannarod.

The film tells the story of Aaw, a young girl who lives with her grandmother. Since she was very young, Aaw was taught the arts of magic by her grandma. But one day, as her grandmother falls sick, Aaw is convinced by a neighbor to go to Bangkok to work, and thus be able to buy medicine. While in Bangkok, Aaw, now known as Dau, finds herself working at a go-go bar. Her naivety and innocence are torn apart as she discovers what her job is about. Soon after arriving, Dau finds herself struggling against the hatred of her co-workers. As things become more and more unbearable for her, she decides to use the magical skills her grandmother taught her to get rid of her enemies. However, she has forgotten some of her grandma's main advices and her magic is now getting darker; the consequences for her irresponsible use of black magic are now horrific, and she is gradually losing control as evil is taking over her; and it seems that there is no way to stop her.

SIGNOS


Signos (a.k.a. The Sign) is a 2007 Filipino horror film directed by Aloy Adlawan, and starring Luis Alandy, Ricky Davao, Irma Adlawan, Lauren Novero, D.M. Sevilla, Eloisa Yap, Nicolet Bell, and Nancy Castiglione.

Right after receiving a text message telling him that his father had suffered a heart-attack, Luis decides to go back to his home town to visit his dad and his step-family. Upon arrival, Luis meets his dad who looks in perfect condition, and who tells him that he had to go to the doctor for a routine examination. Also, it seems that everybody in the household ignores the text message, and everybody denies having sent it. Although everything seems to be OK at his father's house, Luis soon realizes that a mysterious amount of deaths have been happening around the town. As he doesn't want to leave his dad in such dangerous situation, Luis decides to stay for a little while and try to find out what is happening to the people around them. All the people seem to have died covered in mud, which have called the attention of Luis' childhood friend who has also lost his wife recently. It will be up to Luis to help his family and manage to get out of there alive.

DARK DEVIL


Dark Devil is a 2005 Thai horror film directed by Denchat Rakyart, and starring Puwanat Muennark, Amy Rojer, and Krissana Na Ayuthaya.

The film tells about a Thai Black magic master named Pun who, after being hired by some guys from the village, is killing young girls by casting evil spells on them. Most of his spells cause sharp rusty objects to get in the victims' stomach; this objects can only be removed with the aid of a local monk. After suffering from some of master Pun's evil spells, Phaka and her boyfriend Pee Plew finally recover and decide to end with the master's evil plans. To accomplish their mission, they get help from a White magic master named Nai Sing.

GOZU


Gozu is a 2003 Japanese drama/mystery/thriller directed by Takashi Miike, and starring Hideki Sone, Sho Aikawa, Kimika Yoshino, Shohei Hino, and Renji Ishibashi.

The film is considered one of Japan's strangest films ever made. It tells the story of Minami, a member of a Yakuza crew named Azamawari. Minami highly respects his Yakuza brother, Ozaki, who has saved his life many times before. Nonetheless, in the very last days, Ozaki's weird behavior and eccentricities have been making everyone wonder whether or not he is worthy of being in the group, but mainly about his sanity. Their boss, Azamawari, is quiet upset and is feeling more and more unsympathetic to Ozaki's little outbursts; so he secretly orders Minami to take Ozaki to a disposal facility in a different city. There, in the city of Nagoya, the fate of these two friends take a weird twist and a path full of violence. All of a sudden, they end up surrounded by old woman's milk, strange looking locals; and finally, the strange disappearance of Ozaki whose corpse Minami desperately tries to recover.

THE PARK


The Park is a 2003 Hong Kong horror film directed by Lau Wai Keung, and starring Bobo Chan, Laila Boonyasak, Tiffany Lee, Edwin Siu, Wing-Hong Cheung, and Matthew Paul Dean.

Right after a terrible accident on the Ferris wheel which killed a little girl, a rather creepy amusement park has to be closed down. Years later, Yen's brother, Alan, has gone missing, and it has been six days already. Somehow, his disappearance seems to be connected to the strange amusement park where he was taking some pictures. Yen's mother, who claims to have the power to capture ghosts with her picture camera, has the idea that her son might already be dead. Despite such comments from her mother, Yen decides to go to the park and look for Alan. Before heading to the park, Yen calls a group of her closest friends to accompany her in her search. Soon after their arrival in the park, Yen's friends start to die mysteriously. It becomes clear that only Yen will be able to solve the mystery about her brother and friends before she end up dead too.

YES, I CAN SEE DEAD PEOPLE


Yes, I Can See Dead People is a 2008 Hong Kong horror film directed by Lee Kwong-yiu, and starring Steven Cheung, Mandy Chiang, Yee Tong, and Yu Gu.

Nam, an apparently normal young man, is not at all your typical teenager. Nam spends a little too much of his leisure time on his computer; and when away from the computer screen, he tries a little too hard to meet the beautiful stewardess who lives in his same building. Mysteriously, in the last couple of days, three of Nam's friends have committed suicide. Not so bad for him, since, as the title of the film suggests, he sees ghosts all the time. However, this recent set of events only seems to foreshadow even more creepier things to come. On one ordinary day, Nam's brother, along with Chee, the stewardess he's got a crush on, begin to act strangely; besides, his visions of ghostly children and other odd apparitions grow more frequent. With the aid of his brother's girlfriend, Charlie, Nam decides to set out an investigation around his haunted building, to uncover its past and, thus help these malevolent spirits cross over and leave his beloved ones alone.

SUSUK


Susuk is a 2008 Malaysian suspense/horror film directed by Amir Muhammad and Naeim Ghalili; and starring Ida Nerina, Diana Rafar, Adlin Aman Ramlee, and Hairie Othman.

The film follows the life of two seemingly different women. In the first place, Soraya, a young nurse who is beginning to feel a little disaffected by her own life. As a chance to be introduced to the world of glamour piques her earlier ambition to be a star, she does not succeed at first, but she is told that the forbidden practice of Susuk can help. However, on her way to succeeding, she has to make a dessision whether to stay the way she is, or cross a misterious line that devides reallity and unhuman life. In the second place, Suzana, a successful and misterious diva with a terrible secret. She has been a practitioner of the black arts and magic for too long. She has apparently succeeded due to her use of a extreme form of Susuk named Keramat. But beauty has a price, and every time Suzana violates a certain taboo, a human life is required to be sacrificed. It will finally come a moment in which the lives of these two women will come cross and the story will get to the true secret of this dreaded charm.

PAMAHIIN


Pamahiin (a.k.a. Superstition) is a 2006 Filipino horror film directed by Rahyan Carlos, and starring Dennis Trillo, Iya Villania, Marian Rivera, Jacklyn Jose, and Paolo Contis.

The movie tells the story of Noah right after he is back in his native Philippines. Fifteen years has passed and Noah has returned to his home town for his friend's funeral as he has committed suicide. Remembering how strong his friend Damian had always been, Noah cannot help but think why he took his own life. Since during their childhood, it was always three of them, Noah is also haunted by a distant childhood memory concerning his other best friend, Becca who apparently has long since left the town. Damian's death starts a series of weird and unexplained deaths and eerie haunting that has even reached Noah's girlfriend, Eileen. Skeptic, and not wanting to believe and accept the fact that superstitions are real, Noah tries to give a more practical explanation for everything until he experiences the haunting himself. Later on, Noah discovers that there is a lot he does not know about his childhood friends and it will be up to him and his girlfriend to stop such nightmare.

ZOO


Zoo is a 2005 Japanese collection of psychological drama/horror short films. The movie comprises five unrelated stories, all based on Otsuichi's short story collection. It stars Patrick Harlan, Yui Ichikawa, Ryûnosuke Kamiki, Ryôko Kobayashi, Miyuki Matsuda, and Sakamatsu Mei.

In this first short film, the mother of identical twin sisters, Kazari and Yoko, seems to love only one of her daughters, while abusing and mistreating the other. But one day, when the abused girl decides to break free, things take a shocking and unexpected turn.

The second short film tells the story of a young boy and his older sister who find themselves trapped in a small, concrete vault-like room. Soon, they discover that there are seven rooms in all, and each of them has a different female prisoner. As the boy manages to talk to the rest of the prisoners, they find out that on the sixth day of their captivity, each and everyone of them will be massacred. It will be up to the boy and his sister to get out of this place alive and try and save the others.

After what seems to be a tragic traffic accident, a young boy's father is convinced that his mother is dead. But paradoxically, the mother is alive and seems to be convinced that her husband is the one who is dead. The boy is the only person that both father and mother can see, and will be the only one capable of solving such a mystery.

When the Sun Shines (a.k.a Poem Of The Gathering Sunlight) directed by Junpei Mizusaki.
This, the fourth short film, is the only CG animation in the entire film. It is about a lonely man who, while learning about life and death in a world where most of humanity has already died out, decides to
develop a female android companion. The man hopes that she will ease some of the loneliness he has felt for many years.

The fifth short film tells about a man who after being ditched by his girlfriend, decides to kill her at an abandoned zoo. The psychotic man, then decides to take pictures of her dead decomposing body everyday.

XX


XX (a.k.a. X-Cross) is a 2007 Japanese horror film directed by Kenta Fukasaku and starring Nao Matsushita, Ami Suzuki, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Ayuko Iwane, and Nozomu Iwao.

Escaping from some personal problems, two young women head to a remote hotspring spa that one of them found on the internet. When they arrive in the place, the girls soon discover that the seemingly quite village is the home of an ancient and strange cult with a fetish for cutting off female legs. As the two friends try to escape such a nightmare, they have to split up and keep in touch via mobile phones. However, it looks like there are some secrets that are still being kept in the girls relation and they will have to trust their instincts if they want to survive their fate.
