TALES OF TERROR: THE HAUNTED APARTMENTS

Tales of Terror: The Haunted Apartments is a 2005 Japanese horror film directed by Akio Yoshida, and starring Mei Kurokawa, Mitsuru Fukikoshi, and Ayaka Maeda.

Right after her mom's death, Aimi and her father decide to move to a new home. Soon, they find an old apartment building that seems just right for the both of them. But it doesn't take too long until they learn that things are quite abnormal around here. The caretaker tells Aimi about an existent curfew. According to the man, all residents must cross the rope at the entrance in front of the property by midnight, not a second later. Also, nobody can move out until a new tenant has arrived. It seems that everybody who has been brave enough to break the rules have been violently killed. Since the very first day at the apartment, Aimi begins to have visions of a young girl; but when she asks around, her neighbors tell her that there is no other girl living in the building. After further investigations, she learns that the girl is Ai, the daughter of the first owner of the building who lived here 30 years ago; Aimi also learns that Ai vanished one day on her way home from school without a trace. However, as Aimi's curiosity becomes stronger, she is driven to find out more about Ai, and finally discovers that Ai wasn't abducted, but in fact came back to the building the day she apparently disappeared. It appears to Aimi that she can find out the truth about Ai's disappearance, and the disturbing secret that the two girls seemingly share. It will be up to her to stop the haunting and, thus free the rest of the tenants.
