Ghost System is a 2002 Japanese horror film directed by Toshikazu Nagae, and starring Atsuko Rukawa, Chikako Sakuragi, Hiroshi Tamaki, and Maria Yanagisawa.
Misaki receives an email from a long missing friend; so she and her friend's boyfriend, Wataru, decide to investigate and find the place depicted in the message. In their search, Misaki and Wataru come across a large abandoned creepy-looking facility deep within the forest. Inside the building they find a woman scientist that explains how she has been investigating the world of the dead and the possibility that our thoughts remain long after our bodies start to rot. The scientist has develop a machine she calls the Ghost System that she uses to contact spirits. However, soon after Misaki and Wataru enter the building, the research project goes berserk, and begin to tear down the thin line between the world of the dead and the world of the living.
