RINGU 2
Ringu 2 (a.k.a. Ring 2) is a 1999 Japanese horror film directed by Hideo Nakata, and starring Miki Nakatani. The movie is the direct sequel to the 1998 film Ringu, after the poor response received by the previous installment in the series, the 1998 sequel named Rasen. However, this new sequel is not based on Koji Suzuki's novel, and thus it completely ignores the story of Rasen.
In this film, Mai Takano is trying to find out more about the sudden death of her boyfriend, Ryuji Takayama. She soon hears stories about the supposedly haunted videotape that kills everybody who sees it exactly seven days after seeing it. It seems that the spirit is that of a girl named Sadako, who died many years earlier after her own father threw her inside a deep dark well. After some investigation, Mai learns that Ryuji's son, Yoichi, might be developing some psychic powers that may reflect Sadako's when she was still alive. Mai then, decides to continue her investigation and eventually comes across a reporter who is also interested in the story concerning the videotape. Both of them visit a mental hospital where they meet Masami who after the happenings in the first film is still alive. They learn that Masami has developed some abilities and is being studied by a doctor who has an interesting theory about psychic powers that he wishes to carry out in the light of such curse. Later on, Mai must find some way to keep Yoichi and herself from becoming Sadako's curse next victims.
