KOWAI ONNA

Unholy Women (a.k.a. Kowai Onna) is a 2006 Japanese horror film. The movie is a compilation of 3 different unconnected short horror films written and directed by different people.

Rattle Rattle is the first segment written and directed by Keita Amemiya, and starring Noriko Nakagoshi, Kosuke Toyohara, and Yuko Kobayashi.

Right after returning home from an evening with her boyfriend, Kanako finds a little girl standing in the streets; but before being able to speak to the girl, Kanako hears a weird rattling noise and when she looks up she's struck by something falling from above that knocks her out immediately. When she finally wakes up, she finds herself pursued by an evil other-worldly woman-like being. Later on, as she manages to scape, Kanako will wake up in a hospital room not knowing whether her nightmare is over or just about to begin.

Hagane is the second segment co-written and directed by Takuji Suzuki, and starring Tasuku Emoto, Teruyuki Kagawa, and Nahana.

The short tells the story of Sekiguchi, and how one day his boss decides to ask him to take out his young sister, Hagane, on a date. A little bit skeptic, Sekiguchi accepts, but when he arrives to pick up the girl, he sees her operating an empty sewing machine with a burlap bag covering the top half of her body. Hagane's brother immediately asks her to go get appropriately dressed to go out. As she comes back for her date, she's wearing a skirt, high heels, and to Sekiguchi's surprise, she still wearing the burlap bag. Speechless, Sekiguchi takes the woman out but she keeps running side by side aimlessly, first falling down off the side of the road and then into a nearby river. The next day he tries to avoid both his boss and Hagane but they refuse to stay away. It is clear then that Sekiguchi has fallen into a world more frightening than he ever dreamed possible, and it seems that there is no way he can get rid of the mysterious face-covered woman.

The Inheritance is the third and final short film, co-written and directed by Keisuke Toyoshima, and starring Maki Meguro, Kenta Suga, Shunsuke Matsuoka, and Tokie Hidari.

Right after getting divorced, Saeko returns to her childhood home with her young son to take care of her elderly ill mother. However, upon arrival, she realizes that her mother still resents her for divorcing her husband and breaking up her family. Later that first night, Michio, the young boy, sees a momentary glimpse of a young ghastly boy. The next day the boy finds a picture of the boy he saw the night before and after asking his mother he finds out he was Saeko's long-thought dead brother Masahiko. One day Saeko goes out of a shed in the back yard and finds a small wooden chest. The contents of the chest bring back childhood memories and from then on she begins to act strangely toward her son. Even though his grandma tries to warn him, Michio refuses to believe there is something wrong going on with his mom; soon, the little boy will find himself scarred by abuse and psychological trauma.
